Worksheet S-3 of CMS Form 2552-10 captures a hospital's statistical and operational data — the "denominators" that everything else gets divided by.
- Part I: Hospital and Hospital Health Care Complex Statistical Data — bed count, bed days available, inpatient days by Title V/XVIII/XIX/other, total inpatient days, total discharges, average length of stay
- Part II: Wages and Hours — salaries and contract labor by cost center
- Part III: Reclassification of Wages — for wage-index calculation
- Part IV: Statistical Data — supplemental for Medicare-specific reporting
The "Total Hospital" row (line 14) of Part I is the most commonly referenced — that's where you find the bed count, total discharges, and total inpatient days for the entire hospital. Per-cost-center rows (lines 1–13) break those numbers down by adult/peds, ICU, CCU, etc.
